Day of Silence, Night of Noise
When: April 25, 6:00 – 9:00 p.m.
Where: the Utah Pride Center’s Youth Activity Center (355 N 300 W)
What: A barbecue and social event where students will speak about their experiences participating in this year’s Day of Silence, in which they remain silent to draw attention to discrimination, harassment and abuse directed against gay, lesbian, bisexual, transgender and queer/questioning students.
How much: Free
Queer Prom ‘08: The Origin of Love
When: April 26
Where: Downtown Salt Lake Public Library
What: A prom for gay, lesbian, bisexual, transgender, questioning and allied youth age 14-20.
How much: Tickets are $5 in advance and $10 at the door.
SLC Spring Fashion Stroll
When: April 25, 4:00-10:00 p.m.
Where: East Broadway (300 S 250 E)
What: A celebration of local fashion designers, jewelry makers and artists. This season’s event will also include runway shows, live DJ and music (provided by SLUG Magazine), a graffiti mural project and over 50 booths by local artisans.
How much: Free
When: April 27, 2:00 p.m.
Where: Leona Wagner Black Box Theatre
What: A benefit performance of Del Shores’ wickedly funny play for the Utah Pride Center, produced by Pygmalion Productions. If you can’t make the matinee, the play will run through May 10. A beer ‘n’ daws (beer and hot dog) reception will follow.
How much: $20
Utah Pride Festival
What: Exhibitors, vendors and parade entries have until April 30 to turn in their applications for the early bird discount.
When: Every Friday, 6:00 – 9:00 p.m.
Where: The Utah Pride Center
What: A fitness program for gay, lesbian, bisexual and transgender individuals that includes cardio sport kickboxing, slow stretch yoga and karate. All classes are taught by Master Sabina Wise (801-232-1728)
How Much: $5 per class through monthly auto pay or coupon book, $10 drop in. First class is free.
