Affirmation Men’s Group

A men’s group of gay Mormon organization Affirmation will meet tonight in Southern Utah.

Log Cabin Republicans Meeting
The Utah Log Cabin Republicans, a group for gay and gay-friendly members and friends of the GOP, will hold their monthly meeting on Sept. 9. The featured speaker will be Dr. Joe Jarvis, who is running for State Representative in District 24.
When: Sept. 9, 7:00 p.m.
Where: Salt Lake City Library (210 E 400 S)

Southern Utah Needs HIV Counselors
The Washington County HIV/AIDS Task Force, which provides free HIV testing and education to residents of Southern Utah,  is looking for counselors for its next HIV testing date, which will be Sept. 13 from 10:00 a.m. to 12:00 p.m. Counselors are also needed to serve two hour shifts at the Southern Utah Pride Festival on Sept. 27. Last year, counselors tested more than 60 people at the annual event, and the Task Force anticipates it will test more this year.

Avenues Street Fair
Salt Lake City’s Avenues district will again host the Avenues Street Fair this coming weekend. The fair draws over 10,000 visitors annually and provides two stages of live entertainment and more than 200 booths featuring local artisans, restaurants and community service organizations. This year’s Fair will celebrate the 30th anniversary of the Avenues Historic District’s creation and sponsored in part by the Utah Heritage Foundation. Painter and Avenues resident J. Thomas Mulder is this year’s featured artist.
When: Sept. 6, 9:00 a.m. – 6:00 p.m.
Where: Third Avenue between I and N Streets in Salt lake City.
