Ruby Ridge and the Matrons of Mayhem are pleased to announce their 2009-2010 Bingo season charities. The twelve finalists represent a diverse cross-section of local non-profits that include public safety and legal aid programs (three), arts programs (two), gay, lesbian, bisexual and transgender advocacy and HIV/AIDS programs (three), animal assisted therapy (one), and low income advocacy and community building programs (three).

The 2009-2010 charities were chosen from a long list of worthy causes because they met the following criteria: 1) They are based in our Utah communities. 2) These non-profits are primarily volunteer-based (and know how to stretch a donated buck until it screams!). 3) These causes represent areas of interest to Ruby Ridge and the Matrons of Mayhem (who work their tails off, so they get the final say).

Throughout the year the ladies will also be raising funds for the inaugural Kids Camp at Camp Pinecliff to be held in September, 2010. Camp Pinecliff Kids is designed for the children of gay and lesbian parents, transgender parents, single parents and so on, who are typically excluded from scouting and church-related camps. Ruby is so excited about the Kids Camp project she already has her extra-grande girl scout uniform (from her notorious years leading the Bogus Beavers Pack) pressed and ready to go!

Third Friday Bingo is held on the Third Friday of every month at the historic First Baptist Church of Salt Lake City, 777 S 1300 E, at 7 p.m.. The cost is $5 for the first bingo card and $3 each card thereafter. Refreshments are available as a fundraiser for the First Baptists Youth group.
