Utah Pride Center Holiday Hours
The Utah Pride Center will be closed Dec. 24 and 25 for Christmas and Dec. 31 and Jan. 1 for the New Year.
2011 Utah Pride Festival Theme
The Utah Pride Festival has announced that its theme for next year will be “Live. Love. Pride.” The Utah Pride Center, which runs the annual festival, asked members of Utah’s lesbian, gay, bisexual, transgender and queer community last month to vote on five choices for the theme. The Grand Marshall, headline entertainer and other performers have yet to be announced. The festival will be held at the City & County Building in Salt Lake City June 3–5, 2011.
The Queer Utah Aquatic Club in cooperation with Elevation Utah 2011 will host its annual Ski-N-Swim in February. This annual event includes water polo tournaments, swim meets, skiing and fabulous parties. For schedules and events visit ski-n-swim.org.
Help Change Utah’s Opinions
The Utah Pride Center is asking members of Utah’s lesbian, gay, bisexual, transgender and queer community and their allies to help Utahns have “a more positive public perception of our community” in the coming year. Between now and January 2011, the Center has requested that individuals write letters to newspaper editors and Op-Ed pieces describing their hopes for Utah’s lesbian, gay, bisexual, transgender and queer people in the new year. As always, the Center is also encouraging community members of all gender identities and sexual orientations to consider donating money and time to its programs in the coming year.
