Another appeal filed to resume same-sex marriages

The California Attorney General filed an appeal with the 9th Circuit Court of Appeals Tuesday to allow gay marriages to resume.

This request comes as the California Supreme Court said it will need nearly a year before issuing a key judgment on the case. The legal team challenging the ban has also filed an appeal to ask the appeals court to lift the stay on gay marriages.

In the letter to the court, Attorney General Kamala Harris said the sponsors of Proposition 8 were unlikely to prevail and the ban was unconstitutional.
