GLAAD to honor Ricky Martin, Russell Simmons, Kristen Chenoweth

GLAAD will be honoring Russell Simmons, Kristen Chenoweth, Ricky Martin and Robert Greenblatt, an NBC producer, at the annual GLAAD Media Awards this year.

The annual gala is celebrating the 25th anniversary of the award ceremony that honors outstanding representations of the GLBT community in the media. The GLAAD (Gay and Lesbian Alliance Against Defamation) gala is held in New York City, San Francisco and Los Angeles and it brings more than 5,000 attendees.

The GLAAD awards are given to corporate sponsors, as well as individuals, for representing the gay and lesbian communities. AT&T is also receiving an honorable recognition in this year’s awards ceremony.

The awards ceremony will also honor films, television programs and other media for outstanding performances and representation. Of a local note, the Sundance documentary, directed by Utahn, Reed Cowan, 8: The Mormon Proposition is nominated for the Outstanding Documentary award.
