Utah Pride Center seeks award nominations

The Utah Pride Center is asking for nominations for two annual awards to be given during the 2011Pride Festival.

The Dr. Kristen Ries Community Service Award is given to a recipient for outstanding political service to Utah’s gay, lesbian, bisexual and transgender community. The Pete Suazo Political Action Award recognizes a Utah politician that has shown commitment to equal rights. Past recipients of these awards include former Mayor Rocky Anderson, former Gov. John Huntsman and Stan Penfold, the director of the Utah Aids Foundation.

Nominations can be sent to [email protected]. In the e-mail, use 100 words or less to describe why the nominee is deserving of the award. The name and contact information for those submitting nominations must be included. Nominations are due on April 21. Award recepients will be recognized at the Grand Marshall and Awards Celebration, which kicks off the Pride Festival on June 3.
