‘Glee’ tour will be made into 3D feature film

Taking note from the Justin Bieber and Jonas Brothers movies, the upcoming Glee concert tour will be filmed and made into a 3D movie for release on August 12. The film, Glee Live! 3D! will be hitting theaters nationwide, showing  concert highlights and behind-the-scenes action.

Glee will be touring the nation and will be in Las Vegas on May 21 but it will not make a stop in Utah. Performers will include Lea Michele, Cory Monteith, Amber Riley, Chris Colfer, Kevin McHale, Jenna Ushkowitz, Mark Salling, Dianna Agron, Naya Rivera, Heather Morris and Harry Shum, Jr. However, Matthew Morrison and Jane Lynch have not signed on to the tour yet.

The concerts, and movie, will follow the Glee cast in their antics, and the musical numbers will follow the same show-tune and pop-style performances on the show.

“We knew that not every fan who wanted to attend a concert would get that opportunity,” Glee creator Ryan Murphy told The Hollywood Reporter. “Now, thanks to our friends at 20th Century Fox Film, we’ll be able to bring the concert experience to movie theaters across the country in full three-dimensional glory. We promise every passionate ‘Gleek’ a cinematic experience that will have them singing and dancing in the aisles.”
