Party all over town

As thousands of people descend into the city to celebrate the annual Pride Festival, parties can be found at places other than the Festival grounds. Each year special guests are brought in, disc jockeys are featured and the bars are packed. With so many bars to visit and parties to attend, it can be a challenge to decide where to spend this momentous weekend.

The Hotel & Elevate: On Sunday, June 5, the normally straight club will be flying its rainbow colors with the fabulous Britney Spears impersonator, Derek Berry. This won’t be the first time he’s been in Utah and he’s sure to pack a crowd. This will be one of the hottest parties of the year, so be sure to stop by the club after the festivities and check out the performance.

Club Try-Angles: The party gets started early on May 28 with the Pride Underwear Night. Then the festivities continue all weekend long during Pride. From Thursday, June 2 to Sunday, June 5, the neighborhood bar will be packed with some of the hottest guys in town. Thursday is the Pride edition of karaoke and Friday and Saturday nights will be Pride parties. After the parade on Sunday, the patio will open for the annual Pride Steak Fry.

Club JAM: The annual Pride-Idol karaoke competition kicks off on June 1, and the winners will be performing at the festival. JAM is also having barbecues and Pride parties all week. DJs Harry Cross Jr. and Mike Babbitt are some of the best in the state and you won’t want to miss out on the crowds here.

The Tavernacle: After partying all night on Saturday, making it to the Pride Parade despite the morning hangover might be nearly impossible. Luckily, The Tavernacle has the perfect solution – Bloody Mary and mimosa specials. Conveniently located next to the parade route, this is the place to be on Sunday morning to get your pre-festival buzz going. And the Sunday night karaoke is guaranteed to be one of the biggest and best bar-crowds of the weekend.

Paper Moon: The seventh annual White Party on Friday, June 3 will bring all the sexiest and scantily-clad women in Utah to the Paper Moon. This is the place to be for the ladies. Tickets can be purchased at the door, but to avoid lines, stop by the bar before Friday and buy advance tickets.

The Trapp: Watching all the eye-candy at the parade and festival can be exhausting and builds up quite an appetite, which is why The Trapp has an annual Steak Fry and Royal Court of The Golden Spike Empire carnival fundraiser on Sunday afternoon. Stop by for some fun, games and a hunk of meat (oh, and the steaks are pretty tasty too.)

Metro Bar: This year DJ Wayne G returns to Salt Lake to tear up the Metro Bar for Fusion night. Last year at Pride, he attracted well over 700 people and it was easily one of the hottest parties of the year. With credits like a featured performer at Sydney Mardi Gras, Berlin Love Parade, World Pride, Folsom Street Fair, White Party Palm Springs and Winter Party Miami, he’s one of the top gay DJs in the world. On Sunday night, the Metro will also be honoring Pride with a brand new Latin night.

Club Pure: The Friday night party will be off the hook with DJ Ryan Kenny, one of the sexiest DJs alive. He’s a regular in the hottest gay clubs around the country. On Sunday the annual pride BBQ and party will open up the rooftop and back patios. And on Friday and Sunday night Nova Starr and her crew will pull out all the stops to put on the best drag show in town.
