Listen to this article

More than 1,600 people attended the 10th annual Equality Utah Allies Dinner last Saturday where a new campaign was launched with the theme of, “We Believe” and “We Are.”

The series of videos was launched at the record-breaking dinner where the three founders of the political-action committee, Jim Dabakis, Michele Turpin and Doug Wortham, were honored, and former San Francisco Mayor Gavin Newsom was the keynote speaker.

The videos feature members of the community talking about fairness, equality and other basic values for Utah families.

“We believe in love. We believe in respect. We believe in equality. We believe that our voice will be heard. We believe that you matter. We believe in right and wrong. We believe in truth. We believe in justice for all,” one of the videos begins.

“We are movers. We are shakers. We are helping people feel accepted. We are creating change. We are all in this together. We are gay. We are lesbian. We are straight, but not narrow. We are bisexual. We are transgender. We are human beings,” the second video explains who Equality Utah is and whom it represents.
