A lesbian actress who starred in The L Word said she was escorted off a Southwest Airlines flight after she gave her girlfriend a kiss mid-flight. A statement from Southwest said the couple was displaying excessive behavior and the couple was targeted “based solely on behavior and not gender.”
Leisha Hailey, who played Alice Pieszecki on the TV series, took to Twitter after a flight attendant told her other passengers complained after witnessing the affection.
“I have been discriminated against,” Hailey said in her first tweet. She later added, “Since when is showing affection to someone you love illegal?”
She called for a boycott against the airline. She and her unidentified girlfriend were on a flight from Baltimore to St. Louis. The kissing occurred while the plane was still in the air and a discussion occurred when the plane landed.
