What would have been Pocatello’s 11th Pride Festival has been cancelled due to insufficient funds, according to the group’s Facebook event and page. The gathering has been an annual event in Southern Idaho for a decade and has taken many forms in previous years.
“It is with heavy hearts that we must inform you that this year’s event is being cancelled. We did not come up with the financial means to make such an event happen. We have been trying to find a way to do so over the last few months with little success. We will, however, throw a barbeque for the community that day. Location and time will be announced later,” the Facebook post read. “We are sorry to all of the talent and vendors who may have been thinking of turning in applications. Hopefully next year, we will be able to make a larger event possible.”
The event was scheduled for Saturday, Aug. 18. For more information, go to facebook.com/Pocatello.pride.
