Maryland pastor says gays, supporters “worthy of death”

Listen to this article

A Maryland pastor called for the death of gays and their supporters at a recent town hall meeting sponsored by the Maryland Family Alliance. The coalition is working to defeat Maryland’s marriage equality law which will be on voters’ ballots in just two weeks.

Speaking during a panel discussion on the ballot initiative, Rev. Robert Anderson said queer rights advocates are “worthy of death.”

“Those who practice such things are deserving of death,” Anderson said, quoting from Romans, Chapter 1. He went on to argue that if Question 6 is not defeated on Nov. 6, “then we are approving those things that are worthy of death.”

Anderson is the pastor of the Colonial Baptist Church in Randallstown, Md.

  1. Romans, Chapter 1 includes: Backbiters, despiteful, proud, boasters, inventors of evil things, disobedient to parents, without understanding, covenantbreakers, without natural affection, implacable, unmerciful… It sounds like this pastor has a few of these "worthy of death" attributes as well.

  2. It's sooooo interesting how many members of all these "Modern" Christian religions have so many ways to deprive someone of their own freedoms and hide it under "What God Says". Damn, I'm sure glad I'm NOT a Christian!!!!!
