Penn has been in Spain filming the spy thriller The Gunman, due out at theaters in December.
“We are overjoyed and honored that Mr. Redford is able to join us on such short notice,” EU Manager of Development Tika Beard wrote in a statement. “Mr. Redford is widely respected for the non-profit Sundance Institute and Sundance is widely celebrated for its decade’s long embrace, inclusion and promotion of LGBT voices in independent film.”
The Allies Dinner, which raises funds for Equality Utah, sold out three weeks in advance of its Sept. 16 date. The event will take place at the Grand Ballroom of the Salt Palace Convention Center. Over 2,000 people are expected at the dinner.
