State files another emergency motion to stay same-sex marriage ruling

Early this morning, Utah Attorney General Brian Tarbet filed another emergency stay motion with the District Court of Appeals urging them to stay District Court Judge Shebly’s Friday ruling that started same-sex couples marrying. The motion asks for the stay before the 9 a.m. hearing by Shelby is after many county clerks offices open and that many more couples will get married before the possibility that Shelby would stay his own motion.

At press time, no ruling has been handed down and couples are now marrying in nine counties across the state.
