As a kickoff to Utah Pride Festival weekend and to show support for the LGBT community, Kimpton’s Hotel Monaco Salt Lake City, the adjacent Bambara restaurant and the Utah AIDS Foundation will co-host the eighth annual Pink Party on Thursday, June 5 from 5:15 until 8:00 p.m.
The elegant Paris Ballroom will be draped in pink, and the cuisine will be presented by Bambara’s award winning executive chef Nathan Powers. This year’s gala theme, “Sleep with the Best,” will feature enticing auction items, including round trip airfare from Jet Blue (in the continental U.S.), a two-night stay in Moab with a private tour of Moab Brewery and dinner for two, plus luxurious romance-themed packages at 10 Kimpton hotel properties around the United States. There will be additional prizes for hula hoop and Twister contest winners and there will be opportunity drawings for additional treasures.
The Hotel Monaco Salt Lake City is located at 15 West 200 South. The public is welcome and tickets start at $25 a head, which includes food and fun, one drink ticket and one opportunity drawing entry. There is no reservation required. All proceeds benefit The Utah AIDS Foundation.
“We are excited to welcome everyone to this year’s Pink Party! One of the many reasons guests and employees love Kimpton is our philosophy of inclusiveness and the belief that everyone deserves to be appreciated and accepted for who they are,” said Monaco Salt Lake City’s General Manager Daryn White. “We believe that a diversity of cultures and backgrounds make our communities even stronger.”
“This year for the Pink Party and Utah Pride we are asking #AreYouCovered? We are talking about everything from heath care with the Affordable Care Act to condoms,” said Stan Penfold, executive director of Utah AIDS Foundation. “The Utah AIDS Foundation wants to make sure you have all the resources you need to get covered.”
Since the beginning, Kimpton has always been a company that values diversity, inclusion and individuality with deep roots in our communities. All Kimpton hotels are members of IGLTA (International Gay and Lesbian Travel Association), and TAG approved, a certification that assures gay-friendly hotel practices. Since 2004, Kimpton has also maintained a perfect 100 percent rating on the Human Rights Campaign Foundation’s Corporate Equality Index. Everyone has a seat at Kimpton’s table, which is why they support The Trevor Project, who provides crisis intervention for LGBT and questioning youth. Guests can book using a Trevor rate code, TRPR, and receive 10 percent off the daily rate plus a $5 donation per stay. The code is valid at Kimpton hotels in all markets.
