10th Circuit Court issues order to allow same-sex marriages in Utah

Salt Lake County Sherrie Swensen announced that she has received a ruling from the 10th Circuit Court of Appeals that she may issue marriage licenses to same-sex couples. This morning, the U.S. Supreme Court denied to hear the State of Utah’s appeal of 10th District Judge Robert Shelby’s ruling that declared Utah’s Amendment 3 and other laws that denied marriage to same-sex couples as unconstitutional. The denial allows the ruling to stand, meaning marriages can resume in the state.
