Video: #AskTheHIVDoc answers questions about PrEP

he HIV doctors behind #AskTheHIVDoc — Dr. Demetre Daskalakis and Dr. David Malebranche talk about Pre-Exposure Prophylaxis, or PrEP, in a frank, no-nonsense style. This is an update of their earlier series produced by Greater Than AIDS where the doctors answer common questions from gay men about HIV and sexual health.

PrEP is an anti-HIV medication that keeps HIV negative people from becoming infected. It is approved by the FDA and has been shown to be safe and effective. A single pill taken once daily, it is highly effective against HIV when taken every day. The medication interferes with HIV’s ability to copy itself in your body after you’ve been exposed. This prevents it from establishing an infection and making you sick.

The series includes 14 short YouTube videos (a minute to 90 seconds long each) that answer questions like how effective the drug is, how you get it, what happens if you miss a dose, and partying on PReP.
