The Sundance Institute is hosting a free screening of Kinky Boots, which premiered at the 2006 Sundance Film Festival, on Wednesday August 3rd at Red Butte Garden.

Local performers Indi Skies, Champagne and Gia Bianca Stephens will introduce the film with a one-of-a-kind song and dance performance beginning at 8:30 pm. Sundance encourages audiences to come set up their kinky picnics early so they don’t miss a minute of the action.

Enter through the amphitheater gates, near Red Butte Canyon Road and East Medical Drive, on the Salt Lake City east bench. Gates open at 7:30 p.m. and the films begin at dusk. All screenings are free and open to the public. No ticket necessary.

Kinky Boots / United Kingdom (Director: Julian Jarrold) — With the sudden death of his father, Charlie Price takes up the reins of the family’s Northampton shoe factory. But Charlie quickly discovers it is not business as usual, and without new shoe orders, bankruptcy is imminent. As if in a dream, enter Lola, fresh from London and larger than life: sexy, sassy, cabaret-singing man in a dress. These two unlikely friends become allies in a plan that will change the future of the factory and its workers, and the hearts and minds of anyone who crosses their path. Screened at the 2006 Sundance Film Festival.
