Casting call for commercial today
MormonTips.com, started by California-based Rights Equal Rights, is investigating the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints for their involvement in anti-marriage equality efforts. They are holding an open casting for a television commercial.
Today – Thursday, Dec. 8
12:00 noon to 7:30 pm
The Grand America Hotel
555 S. Main Street, Bagatelle Room – 3rd Floor
Salt Lake City, UT
The casting call is for Mormons & Ex-Mormons between 18 and 28 to be in what organizers call “a hard-hitting commercial” to run on television throughout Utah in January, 2017. They will also be conducting short interviews with people who have been affected by the LDS Church’s Nov. 5, 2015 anti-LGBT policy.
Investigating the Mormon Church’s Tax-exempt Status
According to Rights Equal Rights President, Fred Karger, “The Mormon Church likely does not pay any taxes on its vast $1 trillion international business empire. It also is heavily involved in politics all over the world. These activities may cross the line and threaten the Church’s tax-exempt status under IRS law. We will be collecting evidence on possible Church violations and when we find a sufficient amount, we will take it to the IRS.”
