Utah LGBTQ guide to events canceled and postponed

Due to health concerns, a number of events have been canceled or postponed over the next few weeks. What we have found:

Genderbands Purple Soiree

Due to recommendations from the state, we will be postponing the Genderbands Gala (Purple Soiree) to an undetermined date in the future. While we are saddened to make this announcement, it is our priority to keep the community safe.

What we know:
The state has limited gatherings to 100 persons.
Our event was expected to host over 100 attendees, families, and sponsors.
Currently, this limit has been imposed until the end of the month.

What to expect:
The event will go on, but we have not determined a new date
We will keep everyone updated as more information becomes available.
Attendees should expect to receive an email with greater detail in the next 48 hours.

We are asking everyone to follow state and federal guidelines to stay safe. Continue washing hands often. Practice social distancing by staying away from crowded places. Follow quarantine guidelines and testing procedures in the event of illness.

An event of this nature is not an easy feat to accomplish. Just ask any of our amazing volunteers! As such, we have invested our time and love into bringing our community this wonderful opportunity. On behalf of these efforts please consider donating, volunteering in our Orem office, or encouraging friends and family to purchase gala tickets when they go back on sale.

Lava Hot Springs Annual Folk Festival and Soak by CUB – Camping Ursine Brotherhood

Sorry to announce that the event for Lava next month has been canceled due to COVID-19 Virus.

Big Gay Fun Bus April 4 trip

Due to the current health crisis, we have decided to postpone the April 4 bus until it is safer to go. While Wendover casinos and buffets are currently still open, we believe they will eventually follow Las Vegas’ example. Buffets in Salt Lake City, Las Vegas and across the country are closed or serving only plated meals. Vegas casinos, starting with those owned by MGM are closing. The mayor of West Wendover has canceled public events through April. While we had faith in our onboard safety plan, we are less sure about the health risks while in the casinos.

Utah Pride Center ‘State of the Center’

An email was sent from Utah Pride Center leaders Thursday morning, “This message is being sent to inform you that the Utah Pride Center’s State of the Center event, scheduled for tonight, is being postponed. We will reschedule this event at a later date.”

Real Housewives of Ogden, A Drag Show & Benefit Performance

Hosted by Kaffe Mercantile at SaltyCreative in Ogden March 13–14.

“After a lot of thought and discussion, we have made the tough decision to postpone The Real Housewives of Ogden: A Drag Show. The health and safety of our community is highly important to us, and we would love to perform this show for you when everyone’s glitter can shine brightest! All current ticket holders will be honored at the rescheduled date and time, and you will receive additional information through the email address associated with your ticket. We will keep you all informed throughout the process, and you will be the first to know when the show will be rescheduled. Thank you for your understanding and support as we work together (but separately) to protect the health of our community.

Utah LGBTQ+ Chamber of Commerce 4th Annual Gayla

Was to be held April 16 at the Gallivan Center but has been postponed. No date is currently set.

Matrons of Mayhem Third Friday Bingo March 20

“In accordance with Governor Herbert’s direction to limit public gatherings to fewer than 100 people, we will need to cancel bingo scheduled for March 20th. We will reschedule when things calm down. Please let people know, that this is just a postponement. We regret any inconvenience this may cause. Please stay tuned for further bingo announcements. Stay well and wash your hands, B4 and After and During and In Between!

1-to-5 Club March Brunch

“Just an FYI that with the announcement of additional quarantines in place in Salt Lake, along with the closure of the Murray School district, brunch for March is CANCELLED. It’s not an easy decision to make, but we don’t want 14 people in a crowded restaurant. Yes, it’s an abundance of caution, but our population has lower health outcomes and many of our attendees are immunocompromised or are in high-risk situations. With all hope, we will be back in April. In the meantime, WASH YOUR HANDS. DO NOT TOUCH YOUR FACE. And be careful out there,” wrote Shauna Brock.

Rainbow Law Clinic

“Tonight’s [Thursday, March 12] Rainbow Law Clinic has been CANCELLED. Thank you for your understanding, and stay safe out there!”

All-Ages Game Night, Ogden Pride

“Sadly, with recent announcements and community concerns, Ogden Pride has made the decision to cancel the events we had planned for this weekend. We are sad about the need to cancel but want the community to be safe in all activities.

“We hold the community in our hearts in all we do and know that resources community organizations like ours provide are important. We will continue to work diligently as a board of directors to secure funding for our Ogden Pride Center and our upcoming fundraising events this summer in celebration of the communities we serve.

“If you find you need services that we provide, please drop us a FB direct message and we will do all we can to point you in the direction to those resources. This pandemic should not deter us as a community to continue to embrace one another.

“Look for further news on our pending events and possible rescheduling of the events affected by our decision today. Remember the following: Wash your hands 😉 It’s that important!”

Redrox Music Festival Reveal Party

Scheduled for Friday, March 13 at 5:30pm, the event will now be a Facebook Live event.

“This Redrox event is being postponed. Our new venue and dates will be announced tomorrow (March 13th) at 5:30pm via Facebook Live. Following increased and overwhelming concerns about the COVID-19 virus, the Redrox team feels this is the best way to proceed. We are very disappointed that we are unable to hold this event for our fans and supporters. But we know it’s the right decision based on the information we have today. Please look for this event in the future. Thank you, Redrox Directors Hillary, Liz & Jandy.”

Utah Queer Historical Society Oratory Presentation

Due to concerns over the transmission of Covid19, the Utah Pride Center will be closed AT LEAST until March 29th, which means UQHS’ upcoming business meeting on Sunday and the oratory with Mark Lawrence on March 25th are canceled.

CHER has announced the postponement of all concerts on the “Here We Go Again Tour” effective immediately. Cher’s Vivint Smart Home Arena date has been moved to October 17. “I’m heartbroken, but the health of my fans and my touring family comes first. The shows have been really special, but nothing is more important than everybody’s safety. I’m excited to see everyone when we’re back out on the road,” said CHER. Currently held tickets will be honored for the new date, and no action is needed if fans want to keep their tickets and current seat locations. Refunds can be received at the point of purchase.

Leaders of other events are still having discussions. We will update as they announce.
