Drive-in drag show coming to Salt Lake

The world’s first all-live singing drive-in drag show revs up for three Salt Lake City shows to benefit local LGBTQ+ nonprofits

Direct from Las Vegas, the “world’s first all-live singing drive-in drag show” is heading to Salt Lake City featuring entertainers from some of the Las Vegas Strip’s hottest shows, including Cirque du Soleil’s “Zumanity,” “Vegas The Show,” “BAZ,” and more.

The cast includes fierce drag queens with electrifying voices and fabulous costumes, sexy male backup dancers, poi spinning, a gravity-defying stilt walker, and more. Vita Summers, Dusty Muffin, and Sandra Santigold headline the show along with host and Las Vegas drag celebrity Edie from “Zumanity,” who has performed more than 5,500 shows for over 6 million people.

Guests will watch from the safety of their cars, while honking their horns, flashing their lights, and singing along.

The shows are the brainchild of Chris Crescitelli, a filmmaker and virtual reality content developer, who collaborated with Christopher Kenney, better known as Edie from Cirque du Soleil’s “Zumanity” at the New York-New York Hotel & Casino. Kenney will host the shows, which will be held at the pop-up “Dreamland Drive-In” at 4998 Galleria Drive, Murray, Utah.

The first run of shows happened in Las Vegas in May and was a wild hit. It was named one of the “best drive-in experiences” by Conde Nast Traveler and one of the top “nine drive-ins worth getting into gear for” by Financial Times.

A portion of the proceeds will benefit three local nonprofits: Encircle, to bring families and communities together to enable LGBTQ+ youth to thrive and building homes that provide life-affirming services to LGBTQ+ youth and families in communities across Utah; Utah Pride Center, to unite, empower and celebrate Utah’s diverse LGBTQ+ community by providing a safe and welcoming space for education, partnership, service and events; and Equality Utah, seeking to secure equal rights and protections for LGBTQ+ Utahns and their families.

Shows will be Thursday, Sept. 10, Friday, Sept. 11, and Saturday, Sept. 12 at 7:30 p.m. with a half-hour pre-show. Organizers created a “pop-up” Dreamland Drive-In at 4998 Galleria Drive, Murray, Utah
